The OSU Monthly Campaign Update tracks progress toward our $625 million campaign goal, celebrates successes along the way, and, above all, showcases the impact philanthropy makes on OSU students, the state of Oregon, and our world.
Monthly Highlights
In April The Campaign for OSU passed the $500 million milestone,
thanks to the support of more than 48,000 households. Despite the economic downturn, OSU has raised almost $70 million in the current fiscal year to benefit students, faculty, and programs. Learn more about campaign progress.
Campaign achievements include:
- The opening of Kearney Hall, an historic building renovated with more than $12 million in private support
- 28 new endowed faculty positions, an increase of 40 percent since the start of the campaign
- More than $78 million toward the "$100 Million for Students" Scholarship Initiative;
this includes the $275,000 gift from OSU Alumni Association board member Penny Atkins, '79, and her husband, Gary, which took the campaign total past the half-billion mark.
This month's update describes efforts to build relationships between OSU and businesses within Oregon and beyond, and celebrates the impact of these partnerships on campus. They include:
- For Students: A partnership with Gary Ferguson, owner of Hillside Ranch, is providing exciting educational opportunities for students in the colleges of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine.
- For Oregon: For the third year Triad Machinery has provided a new log loader to the OSU Student Logging Training Program, helping the College of Forestry offer hands-on, experiential learning opportunities that develop promising students into top quality forestry professionals for a major sector in our state.
- For the World: Second Wind recently donated two of its Triton sonic wind profilers, valued at more than $100,000, to assist College of Engineering wind energy research, a component of OSU's research cluster in energy.
