March 31, 2012
The OSU Monthly Campaign Update tracks progress toward our $1 billion campaign goal, celebrates successes along the way, and, above all, showcases the impact philanthropy makes on OSU students, the state of Oregon, and our world.
In the first three quarters of the fiscal year, donors contributed $63 million to OSU, bringing the campaign total to $800.5 million toward its $1 billion goal. Learn more about campaign progress.
In addition to passing the $800 million mark, in March 2012 the campaign achieved two other significant milestones: OSU received the 1,000th campaign gift of $100,000 or more, and donors made the first gifts that qualify for the Presidential Scholarship Initiative.
While every contribution makes a difference for OSU, gifts of $100,000 or more make it possible for the university to advance much more quickly. The campaign's success represents an enormous collective effort by OSU supporters, and having such a large group of donors at the $100,000-plus level bodes well for the university's future.
To date, the campaign has generated 142 gifts of $1 million or more; that's more than 2.5 times the number of $1 million gifts OSU had received previously in its entire 100-plus years of existence (54).
OSU has launched the Presidential Scholarship Initiative to build endowment support for top-achieving Oregon students. This matching opportunity has the potential to double the number of endowed Presidential Scholarships, freeing institutional resources to be used in other ways to support student access, experience, and success. Participating donors can create and name an endowed Presidential Scholarship with a commitment of $100,000, half the usual minimum.
In this update, learn about the gifts that brought the campaign past the three milestones of March, and the impact donors are making on OSU and its students.
