Every outstanding university depends greatly upon the loyal service of its alumni and friends. Dan W. Poling, a 1928 graduate of Oregon State, joined the faculty of his alma mater in 1937 and served for more than five decades as a shining example to thousands of Oregon Staters as Dean of Men, mentor, teacher, and friend. The Dan Poling Service Award is given to those who have volunteered a significant amount of time to OSU, spreading their abiding love for Oregon State University and its traditions, carrying on the legacy of Dan Poling.

Presented to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to OSU athletics, the Martin Chaves Lifetime Achievement Award is named after the four-year letterman who was the captain of the 1942 Rose Bowl team. A former president of the Beaver Athletic Student Fund, Chaves was a very influential booster in various fundraising activities.

The OSU Foundation's premier honor, the Lifetime Trustee Award is conferred on individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to the OSU Foundation and the University. Recipients have volunteered 12 or more years of service as a Trustee, have served in major leadership roles on the board, and are members of the Strand, Jensen, or Harris Society.
