President's Dinner 2010

October 22 was a night to celebrate as OSU’s philanthropic community gathered for the 2010 President’s Dinner at the Portland Art Museum. "There’s amazing energy, momentum, and clarity of purpose at OSU today," said Paul Lorenzini, chair of the OSU Foundation Board of Trustees, in his words of welcome. "It’s abundantly clear that your philanthropy is having a transformational impact on our university, and on the exceptional students and faculty it brings together to learn and to lead."

During the program, President Ed Ray announced that donors have pushed The Campaign for OSU past its initial $625 million goal with nearly a year to spare. "And that’s not all," President Ray told Campaign Co-Chair Pat Reser. "We’re out to make history. It’s my honor to announce here tonight that we are increasing our campaign goal to $850 million." The campaign will run through 2013 and, guided by the university’s strategic plan, will help propel OSU to a new level of distinction and global leadership.

The evening culminated in welcoming new members into OSU's highest donor recognition group, the Harris Society: those whose cumulative gifts to OSU have exceeded $1 million. Each received a personally written letter of thanks from a student or young alumnus whose life has been touched by gifts to the university. In a surprise special delivery, the mementoes of appreciation were delivered by OSU students’ national champion Mars rover robotic vehicle.
