A World Leader in Agricultural Research and Education

The first school of its kind in the Northwest, the OSU College of Agricultural Sciences has grown to become a world leader in agricultural research.

Today, the college is poised for dramatic new achievements. Through the campaign, the college seeks private gifts to help educate the leaders of tomorrow, strengthen agricultural industries, and broaden our knowledge of food systems, the environment, natural resources, and life sciences.

Campaign Goals

People

Endowed positions, supporting outstanding faculty, particularly in the areas of rural and resource economics; nursery production and plant materials; reproductive physiology; salmonid ecology and management; and turf management

Scholarships and fellowships that enable the college to continue recruiting talented young men and women to careers -- and eventually leadership -- in this vital field

Programs

Program development funds in support of key initiatives; areas of focus include the Marine Mammal Institute, the new OSU Wine Institute, and Extension Station endowments

A new Animal Sciences Education and Research Pavilion which will allow the college to improve education and support of the animal industry, a major factor in the economy

Highlights

The College of Agricultural Sciences has been ranked first in the nation and ninth in the world for the citation impact of faculty research.

The college's faculty rank in the top 10 nationally in almost all performance measures, including the number of professors who win professional association awards and edit prestigious journals.

Some 250 faculty members win $35 million a year in research support, an achievement that translates into almost $200 million in annual benefit for the Oregon economy.
