Tomorrow's Leaders

A Soaring Future

To help meet critical demand for trained forestry professionals, Oregon State aims to double the College of Forestry’s current enrollment of about 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students.

The exceptional teaching, learning, and research opportunities provided by the Oregon Forest Science Complex will attract top-caliber students and faculty, stimulate their creativity, and allow them to do their best work.

The OSU College of Forestry aims to lead a new national effort to advance the science and technology needed to construct much taller, environmentally friendly buildings made primarily from wood.

Eager to reduce the carbon footprint of high-rise construction, forward-thinking architects and engineers are planning buildings that use exceptionally strong wood products. The new building material, known as cross-laminated timber, is made of strips of wood glued together across the grain. Panels can be more than a foot thick and 80 feet long.

Oregon State already is a global leader in developing new glues and manufacturing techniques for engineered wood products. In addition to many existing partnerships with industry, the College of Forestry is teaming up with the University of Oregon School of Architecture and Allied Arts to conduct interdisciplinary research in wood building design.

Your Investment

We invite you to become a partner in this exciting project by making a gift today that will have a profound impact on Oregon and the future of the wood products industry. The College of Forestry is assembling a core group of supporters to meet the $30 million philanthropic goal. The Oregon Legislature has approved $29.7 million in matching bonds for the project.

Donors giving $25,000 or more may be recognized with a room or other architectural space inside the building named in their honor, in accordance with university naming policies.
