Professor emeritus extends legacy with planned gift

In his 34-year career in OSU’s chemical engineering department, Dr. Charles E. Wicks had a profound impact on his field and on thousands of students. A highly respected educator and researcher, he was recognized for excellence in teaching and advising with many awards, and wrote several textbooks, including a bestseller in his field.

Yet the Wicks legacy has only just begun. Professor Emeritus Wicks and his wife, Miriam, decided to give their Corvallis residence to the university, creating a charitable gift annuity that will provide them with deferred income for the rest of their lives and ultimately benefit the College of Engineering.

The Wicks’ planned gift will create an unrestricted endowment fund for the School of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering and also support the school’s students through the endowed Charles E. and Miriam D. Wicks Scholarship Fund.
