State of the University Address & LuncheonOn January 20, 2010 in the Gerding Theatre at the Armory in Portland, President Edward J. Ray outlined the progress and aspirations of Oregon State University during his annual State of the University address.
More than 200 people heard the address and had the opportunity to engage in discussion with President Ray. The event was part of the OSU Business Roundtable series and was presented by the OSU Foundation and the OSU Alumni Association.
Construction launch of the The centerpiece initiative of The Campaign for OSU took center stage Sept. 25, 2009, as more than 200 members of the OSU community gathered to celebrate the launch of construction on the Linus Pauling Science Center. The $62.5 million, 105,000-square-foot facility is the university's largest-ever academic building project.
Launch of the Hallie Ford Center On Sept. 9, 2009, at 9:09 a.m., Oregon State University launched the Hallie Ford Center for Healthy Children and Families, a new research initiative focused on the human lifespan, with a special emphasis on the physical, mental, and behavioral health of children. The center was made possible by a generous gift from the late Hallie Ford, and is part of the College of Health and Human Sciences.
2009 Destination OSUAlumni and friends of Oregon State University gathered March 2 and 3 in the spectacular California desert. They learned about ways OSU faculty are impacting students, Oregon, and the world, and honored four distinguished alumni at the Awards Dinner. Some 120 guests joined President Ed Ray for the Jan. 22 President’s Circle reception in Portland, hosted by OSU Foundation Trustees Cindy Campbell and Duane McDougall. Listeners were wowed by speaker Anais Tuepker, who recently completed her master’s in public health at OSU. Anais's research interest is in health care for refugees and other displaced populations. A privately-funded fellowship supported her travel to Laos to do an internship with the World Health Organization.
The Corvallis President’s Circle reception on April 8 featured gymnast D’Anna Piro. "At Oregon State I have been surrounded by people who support and believe in me," she said. "I want to say thank you for helping make my experiences here possible. I hope you know the difference that you make, especially in times like these. I really cannot express my gratitude enough." Representing OSU’s inner circle of donors, President's Circle members contribute generous annual gifts of $1,000 or more. These contributions help OSU build on existing strengths in strategic areas to achieve world-class excellence, and to send graduates like Anais Tuepker and D’Anna Piro out ready to serve Oregon and our world.
Oregon State University friends, faculty, staff, and students joined President Ed Ray and members of the Campaign Steering Committee as OSU launched its first campus-wide fundraising effort on Oct. 26, 2007. A multimedia celebration at the LaSells Stewart Center highlighted students and faculty whose groundbreaking work is reaching throughout the state and around the world. The public launch was followed by a dinner
