CORVALLIS - The OSU Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports Oregon State University, has elected five new members to serve on its board of trustees. David Benson, Jon DeVaan, Bill Jabs, Mike Rich and Jean Starker Roth will serve three-year terms.
"We are very excited to have these new members on our board," said OSU Foundation President Mike Goodwin. "They bring expertise and new energy, which is especially valuable as we head into OSU's first ever campus-wide campaign."
Benson, of West Linn, is president and founder of Huntair Inc. The Tualatin company designs, markets and sells clean-room systems to industries around the globe. Benson, who founded Huntair with assistance and mentoring from OSU alumnus Ed Hunt, is also the parent of two current OSU students.
DeVaan of Medina, Wash., earned his bachelor's degrees in computer science and mathematics from OSU in 1985. A 20-year veteran of Microsoft, DeVaan is the company's senior vice president for engineering excellence. He was named an OSU Alumni Fellow in 2002.
Jabs of Camas, Wash., is president, COO, and founding partner of W&H Pacific in Portland, an engineering firm specializing in land development, transportation and surveying. Jabs earned his civil engineering degree from OSU in 1969. He received OSU's Academy of Distinguished Engineers Award in 1998.
Rich, of Beaverton, attended OSU from 1977-80. He is an accomplished screenwriter whose credits include "Finding Forrester," "The Rookie," "Radio" and "Miracle." He was named an OSU Alumni Fellow in 2003.
Roth, of Corvallis, is the owner and manager of Roth Properties. She has served on the OSU Foundation Board in the past and now serves on the advisory councils for OSU Libraries and the College of Health and Human Sciences. Roth graduated from OSU with a home economics degree in 1942. She was awarded the E.B. Lemon Distinguished Alumni Award in 2001 and was named the Presidents Club Most Honored Member in 2000. She is the grandparent of one OSU graduate and two current students.
The OSU Foundation raises private funds to support Oregon State University. Major fund-raising projects include the construction of the Kelley Engineering Center, the expansion of Reser Stadium, and the transformation of the historic dormitory Weatherford Hall into a residential entrepreneurship college. At the same time, the foundation has raised significant funding for scholarships, research and teaching.
