With help from one of the nation's most prominent foundations, work is underway to transform the
110-year-old Apperson Hall into a cutting-edge facility for OSU's civil and construction engineering programs. The College of Engineering recently met The Kresge Foundation's $850,000 challenge by raising an additional $3.2 million in new gifts for
the project.
The renovation will restore the building's historical architectural integrity and modernize the interior, adding a 120-seat auditorium and spectacular central light court. The building itself will be a teaching tool, with ceilings and walls exposed to display structural, mechanical, and electrical features.
To date, approximately $10.4 million has been raised toward the $12 million renovation; more than 700 alumni and friends have contributed. When the hall opens in December 2008, it will be renamed in honor of Connie, '65, and Lee Kearney, '63, of Vancouver, Wash., who have given more than $4 million to the project.
Fundraising continues and naming opportunities are still available. To learn more, contact Sharon Magnuson at 503-553-3404 or Sharon.Magnuson@oregonstate.edu.
