World-renowned scientist Joseph Beckman, the holder of the Ava Helen Pauling Chair, is leading OSU studies into the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Lou Gehrig’s disease, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s disease.
Beckman also works in collaboration with international researchers to help prevent these diseases. For the past ten years, the Beckman Lab has been working with the Institute Clemente in Uruguay, and now researchers are attempting to launch a study evaluating the neuroprotective benefits of micronutrients as a primary prevention of Lou Gehrig's and Alzheimer's diseases.
